Stonehenge is Britain’s greatest notional icon. It symbolizes mystery and power. Today, people still doesn’t know how this comes from. Some people guessed that it was a temple made to worship the ancient earth deities. There also are some people believed that it was a sacred site for the burial of high-ranking citizens from the societies of long time ago. “Archaeologists think that the standing stones were erected around 3200 BC and the surrounding circular earth bank and ditch, which constitute the earliest phase of the monument, have been dated to about 3100 BC.”(Wikipedia, Stonehege, paragraph1) The stones have fallen or been removed by road repair. The stones stood and form a circle. The Stonehenge used a lot of time, requiring commitment and vast amounts of manual labor. It constructed approximately five thousands years ago.
